    As news assistant on the Asia Top News Team, helped produced Reuters Xtra pages including ones for Investment Banking, Emerging Markets and Politics, Policy and Risk. Also helped sub-edit political stories and supported coverage of  companies and markets.
  • News Intern, Tribune Washington Bureau, Washington, D.C. (Feb. – May 2010)
    As political reporter, covered campaign finance, money in politics, employment and immigration policy for Tribune newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune. Wrote range of profiles, enterprise and spot news stories, while supporting bureau coverage of landmark Washington events.
  • Web/Editorial Intern, The Atlantic Monthly , Washington, D.C. (July – Dec. 2009)
    As editorial intern, helped fact check, proof read and copy edit articles for print magazine. Researched on issues relating to U.S. foreign policy in East Asia for staff writers. As web intern, helped curate Correspondents page and with special online projects. Also blogged for the Politics and Business Channels.
  • Blogger, AsianCorrespondent.com, Washington, D.C. (Oct. – Dec. 2009) 
    As freelance blogger, wrote entries commenting mainly on American foreign policy in East Asia and Southeast Asian politics and economics. This new Web-only publication, pioneered by a UK-based start-up aims to plug the gap left by the recent demise of the Far Eastern Economic Review.
  • News Intern, BBC News, New York, N.Y. (Apr. – May 2009)
    As news intern in a converged newsroom, helped report an economy series marking the first 100-days of the Obama presidency, showcasing the local economy in several cities across America, starting in New York and ending in Seattle.
  • News Intern, The Associated Press, Singapore (June – July 2007)
    As general news intern, covered pre-Asian Soccer Championships warm up matches in Singapore for print media, with particular attention on the Australian national team at its competition debut.
  • Founding Editor, The Campus Observer, Singapore (May 2006 – Dec. 2007)
    Founded first independent online student press in Singapore. Coached junior writers and editors, planned coverage, edited and wrote a range of deadline reports, features, news analysis and editorials on issues from the annual student elections to the 2006 Thai coup.
  • News Intern, The Straits Times, Singapore (June – July 2005)
    As sports reporter, covered the 117th International Olympic Committee Session in Singapore. Wrote at least 30 byline stories over an eight-week period for the print and online versions of Singapore’s national newspaper. Wrote features, profiles and deadline reporting pieces.

  • Research Assistant, Project on Election Monitoring, Washington, D.C. (Sep. 2009 – Jan. 2010)
    As freelance research assistant, researched and analyzed possible pre-election mitigation strategies that would preempt situations where observers are compelled to legitimize election results.
  • Photojournalist, Exposure Cambodia, Siem Reap, Cambodia (June 2008)
    Reported on the impact of rising food prices on Cambodia’s poor in weeklong photojournalism workshop in Siem Reap, organized by Tufts University Institute for Global Leadership. Produced a written report and a photo essay under the tutelages of former IHT editor Mort Rosenblum and co-founder of VII Photo Agency, Gary Knight.
  • Research Assistant, En-Gendering State-Society Relations in Singapore, Singapore (Oct. – Dec. 2007)
    As researcher, compiled and analyzed newspaper articles chronicling three case studies showcasing the evolution of state-society relations in Singapore in the 1990s. Wrote case notes that contributed to a book publication for Dr. Kenneth Paul Tan, Associate Professor and Assistant Dean (Student Affairs) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.

    As student writing assistant, helped students with improving their academic papers from diverse disciplines such as physics, biology, history, politics and philosophy. Focused primarily on structural ideas and logical argumentation.
